The purpose of the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Civic Amenity Site Forum (WEEECAF) is to assist the Government in the practical implementation of the WEEE directive.
WEEECAF provides a mechanism for all involved parties to exchange information and to promote best practice by working together throughout the WEEE recycling chain.
WEEECAF provides a platform for Local Authority DCF operators to represent their views to Government to ensure the operations of Household Waste Recycling Sites (HWRS) remain compliant, that adequate funding is provided, and their primary role is not compromised.
WEEECAF meetings are held on a quarterly basis at various locations throughout the United Kingdom. The variety of locations allows a larger number of people to attend the meetings who may not be able to travel long distances.
The meetings are free of charge and open to anybody with an interest in WEEE and the Regulations. The current membership is made up of representatives from the following organisations:
- Local Authorities
- HWRS/DCF Operators
- WEEE Logistics Operators
- AATFS
- Re-Use Organisations
- Approved Exporters
- PCS & BCS
- Retailers
- Distributor Take-back Scheme
- EA, SEPA & VCA
- BIS
- WRAP
- Defra
- LARAC
- NAWDO
- FRN
Meetings are sponsored by various stakeholders, including waste management companies, PCS and AATF operators. The sponsorship helps keep the event free of charge for members and allows the sponsor to have input in to the agenda. Some sponsors have also organised tours of their facility.
