Local Authorities and the Designated Collection Facilities that they operate are pivotal to the success of the WEEE Regulations in the United Kingdom.
WEEECAF provides a platform for Local Authority DCF operators to represent their views to Government to ensure the operations of Household Waste Recycling Sites (HWRS) remain compliant, that adequate funding is provided, and their primary role is not compromised.
WEEECAF is free to join and the meetings are also free of charge to attend. The meetings are supported by the members from the private sector, including Producer Compliance Schemes, AATF operators and waste management companies.
All meetings are followed by a buffet lunch allowing for a relaxed networking opportunity. Some meetings also include a visit to a local WEEE recycling facility. The visits help to broaden personal awareness of the WEEE recycling processes.
The CIWM has approved the WEEECAF meetings and attendance can be used towards 4 hours CIWM Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
